A lot of families worry about whether home schooled children get the interaction and socialization that other children are able to get. This is a valid concern. Kids need the interaction to know how to handle situations later in their life. For this reason, there are events for home schooled children.
Field Trips
A lot of online schools have field trips that can be taken by children that are enrolled in their program. These field trips may be a day out at the local park for children that are also enrolled in that area to get together for games and fun. It may also be a field trip to an aquarium, a zoo, or a museum. Either way, kids do have the opportunity to attend events that they want to go to.
Sports
Many of the children who are enrolled in online school are also a part of outside sports. These sports may include baseball, basketball, karate, and anything else that the child loves to take part in. Kids who are enrolled in a sport, do not miss out on the social interaction that they get in school, because they are still around kids within their age group. If you are hoping to enroll your child in home schooling, you may also consider letting them take part in some other type of activity that will allow the social interactions to take place.
Family Support
Never underestimate the power of family. If you have a big family or your child has cousins and other family that is about their same age, now is a great time to encourage friendships to form. It will allow your home-schooled child to socialize and you can ensure that you family bonds stay strong. Play dates, meetings at the park, and more are all great ideas and the kids will love it all.
